S - Ukuran

S is going to be the size. The hydraulic hose I.D. must be sized accurately to obtain the proper flow velocity. A flow that’s too slow results in sluggish system performance, and a flow that’s too high causes excessive pressure drops, system damage, and leaks. You know it's sized at 16 of an inch on the inside diameter, so really what you're measuring here is the flow path of the hydraulic fluid. So you know, we say it's measured in 16ths of an inch, and it uses a special dash system. So in this case, the hose we're showing is a half-inch inside diameter, and we call that a dash eight.

Hydraulic hose size, or 'dash size,' is determined by the inner diameter (I.D.) measured in sixteenths (1/16") of an inch. Transportation hose is the exception. For example, the “-8" indicates that the hose is 8/16", or 1/2". If we're looking at a 1-inch inside diameter, we'd call that dash 16. Typically with a hydraulic hose, you're going to go up to a dash 32, so a 2-inch inside diameter.  Although we do see some larger hoses out there in the market, we do offer a a 3 inch

Hoses, something like an air brake hose, power steering, or anything with a DOT standard attached to it—those are really measured as it would relate to a tube size. You know, back before a flexible hose was used in a lot of transportation applications, they would use hard tubing, so if you have a Dash 8 transportation hose or a DOT hose that has a half-inch inside diameter, it's not going to be quite half an inch, so you want to make sure you're measuring properly.

T - Suhu

T for temperature. To avoid equipment downtime, do not exceed the suggested temp limits.

temperature—You're not only considering what is flowing through the hose but also what's going to be around the outside of the hose, the ambient temperature. Rubber and any other real hose materials are going to be affected by massive temperature swings. Make sure that the temperature rating of the hose you are considering meets or exceeds the higher of the media or ambient temperature of your application. Also, make sure you consider media type along with media temperature, because different fluids can increase or decrease the effects of temperature on the hose

Check the hose specification for the temperature ratings of both the fluid and the ambient environment. For example, for petroleum-based hydraulic fluids, the hose should have a temperature range of -40°F to +257°F. For water/glycol and water/oil emulsion hydraulic fluids, the maximum working temperature drops to +185°F and for air, the rating drops to +158°F

M is for media; this is really going to be what's flowing through the hose. Different rubber materials or different polymers, things like that, for the inner tube, are going to be compatible with different things. Typically, with hydraulic hose, the variety of media is going to be relatively low; we're typically looking at some sort of hydraulic fluid or oil that's going to be used to do some sort of work, whether lifting or anything like that. so really very important to be cognizant of the fluid compatibility of the material that you're using.

P - Tekanan

Then we come to pressure. Pressure is probably the first thing that comes to everyone's mind come to hydraulic hoses, no different with industrial hoses either. The pressure rating of a specific hydraulic hose is going to be very important. Select a hose with the published maximum working pressure equal to or greater than the maximum system pressure and any surge pressures or peak transient pressures in the system.

All hydraulic hoses have passed the industry-rated specifications for a 4:1 design factor unless otherwise noted. Burst pressure is really going to be when we expect this hose to fail. Burst pressure ratings for hoses are for manufacturing test purposes only. They are not an indication that the product can be used above the published maximum working pressure.

For example, if you find yourself in a 4 000 5000 psi application, you should be using a 3 000 psi hose, because it's not expected to burst until 12 000. You really want to be sure that the working pressure that is labeled on your hose is going to be at or above the system pressure of your hydraulic system.

You also should be looking at impulse pressure when you look at something like a selang dikepang or a spiral hose, if this is an application. For example, maybe an excavator on a construction site, that boom is operating multiple times in a very short period of time, and it is when you go through that many impulses. You should get a high-pressure hose—a selang spiral that is going to hold up in that environment.
