SAE 100R12 comprises four helical wire spiral reinforced hydraulic hoses ranging in size from 3/8" to 2". These hoses are designed for high-pressure applications and are commonly used in heavy industrial and commercial equipment such as excavators, loaders, and construction machinery.

SAE 100R12 hose has a synthetic rubber inner tube and four layers of high tensile steel wire reinforcement. It also has an abrasion, ozone, and weather-resistant synthetic rubber cover. This construction offers exceptional durability, flexibility, and resistance to high-pressure hydraulic fluids.

What is SAE 100 R12 Hydraulic Hose
SAE R12/ SAE 100 R12 hydraulic hose is suitable for industrial, heavy use and high impulse.
It consists of a synthetic rubber inner tube reinforced by four metal meshes. This four-layer reinforcement makes it a suitable hose for applications requiring high pressure. Its outer layer is made of gray synthetic rubber, which is able to withstand adverse weather conditions, oils and abrasion.
It is available in nominal diameters (DN) from 3/8" to 1" 1/2. It can withstand working pressures from 276 bar to 172 bar. The operating temperature is -40ยฐC to +100ยฐC. It can be used with standard connections and external stripping or with BW connections without stripping

Basic Hydraulic Hose Construction
The construction of a basic hydraulic hose involves three layers. These layers help maintain a consistent and reliable flow of fluid while also protecting the entire assembly from wear and tear.
Inner Tube: The inner tube is designed to be compatible with the fluid it is conveying and is free-flowing, pressure-resistant and resilient. This tube is typically made of PDFE (Teflon), thermoplastics or synthetic rubber.
Reinforcement: This layer surrounds the inner tube and is composed of a spiral or metal mesh. This assembly supports the tube and prevents it from tearing.
Outer Layer: This layer is made of a rigid material and is designed to protect the inside of the hose.
Types of Hydraulic Hose Construction
Due to the variety of applications for hydraulic hoses and the range of chemicals and pressures they will be subjected to, there are also a variety of constructions.
Reinforced: This type of hose is similar to the basic three-layer construction, but there is an additional cushioning layer in the reinforcement layer, most commonly in the form of a textile braid, braided wire or spiral wire material around the inner tube.
Coiled Hose: Coiled hoses are semi-rigid hoses designed to expand and be easily stored. Because the hose is coiled, it can stretch without placing unnecessary stress on the hose material.
Corrugations: Another way to increase the expansion and flexibility of a hose is to introduce corrugations. The corrugation process appears as small threads or folds in the hose material, somewhat like an accordion, allowing the hose to expand and compress without damaging the outer shell.
Articulated: Articulated hoses are hoses constructed in sections with rigid shafts connected by flexible joints. Swivel joints allow the hose to bend or rotate around other components.
Multi-element: Hoses involving more than one element as described above are called multi-element hoses.

The fluids that pass through hydraulic hoses are divided into three main types. These include:
